Weekly Meditation Schedule

The Olean Meditation Center offers a range of weekly meditation sessions to meet the varied needs and schedules of the community. All sessions are in-person, free, and open to the public. Although the practices are based on Buddhist meditation, people of all faiths and beliefs are welcome.

No previous meditation experience is required. For those who are new to meditation, we offer beginning instructions 15 minutes before start time.

All are invited to join us for optional tea and fellowship afterwards.

Meditation for Wellbeing

Tuesdays

5:30 pm

Following a short introduction of the theme for the week, there is a 30-minute guided meditation and time for discussion. Although the practices are based on Buddhist philosophy and meditation techniques, the session is secular without the recitation of prayers. The focus is on how our practice can help us to live our lives more fully with an open heart.

Buddhist Practice & Discussion

Thursdays

12:15 pm

Sessions start with an aspiration prayer followed by a 25-minute silent meditation, a short reading & discussion, a 15-minute closing meditation, and dedication of merit.

Buddhist Practice & Discussion

Sundays

10:00 am

Twice monthly

Meditation sessions start with an aspiration prayer, followed by a short reading, a 30-minute silent meditation, and discussion. Closing will be a 5-minute meditation and dedication prayer.

At times, this session will more formally discuss a section of a dharma book. And on some Sundays, a longer program will be scheduled. Please check the home page for dates.
