About the event

Neurodiversity is quite common.  Chances are you have regular community connections with neurodivergent people — they can include autistic people and those with ADHD and dyslexia, as well as other innate or acquired neurological differences. Perhaps you are neurodivergent yourself.

Many neurodivergent people practice mindfulness & meditation, or desire to do so, but can face multiple barriers of misunderstanding, disinterest, and/or discrimination when seeking out mindfulness communities or guidance on how to practice.

In this program, neurodivergent mindfulness teacher Katie Ward will discuss and guide conversation about:

  • What the neurodiversity paradigm means, and its connections to mindfulness
  • Why a neurodivergence-affirming framework is crucial for healthy mindfulness practices and communities
  • Where roadblocks can show up for neurodivergent folks who want to engage
  • How to make changes that support safe participation both in individual and group settings
  • Who benefits from making shifts towards accessibility and equity (HINT: everyone!)

We’ll try on mindfulness practices designed with a plurality of nervous systems in mind, taking time as a group to discuss insights and generate ideas.
